Mechanical Engineer – 6 month contract

We are partnering with a ‘cradle to grave’ project delivery partner specialising in planning, commercial and project management. Due to continued growth in their utilities department, they are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to aid with their development in Macclesfield, Manchester.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Development: Lead the design of water infrastructure projects, including pipelines, treatment plants, reservoirs, and drainage systems, ensuring designs meet project specifications, standards, and client requirements.
  • Site Assessments and Data Analysis: Conduct site visits, surveys, and assessments to gather data for the design process, analyzing soil conditions, topography, and environmental impacts to inform project plans.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, environmental engineers, and contractors, to ensure designs are integrated and executed efficiently throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all designs comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations, industry standards, and environmental guidelines, including preparing documentation for regulatory approvals.
  • Project Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed design calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports, and assist in the preparation of tender documents, cost estimates, and proposals.
  • Troubleshooting and Optimization: Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and provide solutions to design-related problems. Continuously optimize designs for cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or equivalent Civils qualification
  • 3-5 years post qualification experience
  • Experience in Utilities (Gas or Water) Would be advantageous
  • Previous Design experience desirable

- Drivers Licence Desirable
