Our client arecurrently seeking to recruit a Senior Instrument Designer to be based in Macclesfield Cheshire.

The Senior Instrument Designer will have the responsibility to support the local projects team through provision of Electrical & Instrument Design and Consulting Services.

This role will require a high level of autonomy and strong communication skills.

The Senior Instrument Designer will have a technical engineering design background. Projects within the current portfolio include:

  • Extensive flow and pressure monitoring project
  • Upgrade of effluent plant to PLC control
  • Upgrade of process plant to DCS

The post holder will:

  • Review and assess customer needs
  • Provide resource estimates for design related activities
  • Produce reports, scope of works, concept design and detailed designs(Typically RIBA2-4)
  • Support effective delivery of projects to time, quality, and cost targets together with the ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Produce documentation in accordance with defined standards/quality requirements
  • Liaise with design and equipment subcontractors
  • Interface with other disciplines such as Mechanical, Process, HVAC and Civil
  • This position requires significant interface with the client and the Installation team to meet these requirements it is recommended the Senior Instrument Designer attends the Macclesfield office 3 days per week.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in a relevant design role including successful delivery of electrical installation designs within projects for the pharmaceutical sector.
    • HNC or Degree in technical engineering related subject
    • Membership of professional Institution or similar body is desirable
    • Experience in UK pharmaceutical construction projects is desirable but not essential
    • Experience of E&I design best practices
    • Role is offered on a Hybrid Basis 2 days WFH and 3 days on site at Macclesfield
