Accountancy Recruit is partnering with an international manufacturer (Group T/O 2 billion), in the recruitment of a Financial Plant Controller for the UK subsidiary (T/O 200 million). Reporting to the UK Finance Director and based in Llangynwyd, Mid Glamorgan, the purpose of the role is to support the Operations Team, adopting a Business Partnering approach in the provision of operational financial reporting, financial analysis, KPIs and costing analysis in this manufacturing environment.
Taking an active role in the Senior Leadership team and enabling strategic decision making based on accurate and timely facts and figures. Additionally ensuring transparency to all areas of the group, business units and production functions, based on common definitions and analysis.
The Financial Plant Controller will work closely with the General Manager to drive the business and finance forward in support of the ambitious growth plan.
Duties
- Managing the Finance Team: providing support and mentoring - building collaborative working relationships.
- Reporting on all areas of production; providing the Senior Management Team with insightful, and actionable data. You will ensure a complete understanding of production processes and measure the financial impacts of decisions taken, leading to a more forward-facing view of performance.
- Support and challenge the Senior Leadership Team with accurate facts and figures for decision making. Creating awareness on the cost base by using benchmarks.
- Maintain and update manufacturing costs (local standards).
- Define adequate cost accounting for standard costs, in line with group and local standards.
- Provide transparency on performance: P&L and cost of sales.
- Act pro-actively as Business Partner to the General Manager and Department Heads. through reports, analyses, interpretations and recommendations of corrective measures, including follow-up.
- Provide transparent manufacturing cost reports and performance results, benchmarking internal / external factors.
- Assisting in areas of cost planning and target setting in relation to projects.
- Responsible for reporting and planning processes, in line with group standards (such as IBP, GAP closing, CIP) and reporting into all functions/business units.
- Providing manufacturing finance input into the OSR and liaising with production, supply chain to ensure that the resulting 18 month rolling FC accurately reflect latest assumptions and most likely outcome.
- Make transparent quality of BOMs, routings and manufacturing accounting on basis of standard quality reports provided by Group Finance.
- Support and evaluate projects (OPEX and CAPEX) with standardized controlling tools, cash planning and accounting.
- Support month and year end closing, oversee material movements, supporting inventory valuation.
- Continuous evaluation of processes and procedures to achieve best practice, efficiencies, cost savings and positive contribution to drive forward the growth of the business, performance and profitability.
- Mission-critical collaborators: General Manager, Business Delivery Team, Leadership Team, Finance Director/Head of Finance of legal entity, Head of Group Controlling and Sales Controlling.
Requirements & Skills
- Fully Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
- Experience of a senior level accounting role within a manufacturing environment is essential and ideally FMCG
- Ability to lead finance within a business
- Demonstrating adaptability and flexibility

Remuneration
- Salary £60-75,000 pa
- Annual bonus: £5,000 dependant on personal and company performance
