Science Solutions - Application Chemist - South Wales

Science Solutions are currently working with an international group to recruit an Application Chemist for their team in South Wales to provide their European customer base with technical support and analytical development expertise using a range of analytical techniques

As an Application Chemist you will be responsible for liaising with internal business development teams and external customers to provide technical expertise on a range of analytical techniques including LC/MS and GC/MS. This will involve travelling to client sites and industry tradeshows across Europe.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop LC/MS and GC/MS methods for a range of applications with a variety of sample preparation techniques
• Train customers, field reps and other co-workers on effective sample preparation techniques as well as on the use of automated system platforms
• Communicate with customers, field reps, and co-workers through phone, writing, and oral presentations, regarding application work done by yourself as well as others
• Attend key tradeshows, working the booth, presenting results, and answering technical questions.

Key Requirements

• Analytical skills needed include a strong knowledge and hands-on experience of Mass Spectrometry analysis (MS) and sample preparation techniques
• Must be able to develop a robust LC/MS or GC/MS method and report the results in a concise, clear and logical way
• An advanced degree in Chemistry or similar, plus a strong level practical experience in analytical chemistry 
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to engage with external customers and clients to provide updates/reports
