Oakley Hill is working with a leading independent school based near Maidenhead seeking to recruit a qualified Financial Accountant to provide essential financial insights, management, and legal compliance.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating on operational budgets & five-year plans.
  • Overseeing fee management, including invoices, collections, and debtor analysis.
  • Provision of VAT advice, managing computations, and ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Producing financial reports and rolling forecasts for SLT.
  • Ensuring financial governance, audit readiness, and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Supporting the financial management of capital and maintenance projects.

We’re looking for a dedicated, passionate and detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a collaborative environment. In particular we would welcome applications from candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Qualified Accountant (preferably ACCA or ACA)
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of VAT, including explaining complex concepts to non-finance colleagues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to support school outcomes.
  • Passion for working within the education sector (previous education sector experience is not required).
