The Malloy Aeronautics Team:

Malloy Aeronautics Limited specializes in the development of heavy lift unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) for both civilian and military uses. Located in Berkshire, our operations are notable for their focus on in-house design and manufacturing. This vertical integration means we control the production of most aircraft components on-site, enhancing our ability to innovate and maintain high standards across all stages of development.

About The Role:

This role involves a diverse range of design, development, and testing tasks for a talented, flexible, and passionate engineer with experience in electronics, and electrical design plus development leading to manufacture. This person must embrace the challenge of producing outstanding results on his/her own while guiding and mentoring more junior engineers.

As Senior Electronics Engineer you would be involved in all aspects of vehicle development, from design through to production. You may also have responsibility for managing electrical/electronic equipment suppliers for the development of the UAV platform.

Ability to hold Security Clearance - 5 years residence in the UK

What you’ll being doing:

  • Design, build and test systems utilising both AC and DC circuits for unmanned aerial systems
  • Design of test procedures to ensure systems meet the current standards
  • Investigate ideas, suggestions and problems related to existing and new products raised by internal departments including Marketing and Production, communicating, and responding to ensure issues are resolved promptly and appropriately.
  • Identify opportunities for improving existing products and processes.
  • Help in setting the standard for engineering practices and serving as an expert in the field.
  • Liaise with other engineers to resolve production and design issues
  • Mange personal workload and identifying any further resource need

Essential Skills and Experiences:

  • Formal qualification to bachelor’s degree level ideally in electronic engineering.
  • Significant experience in an engineering department working on the design of electronic aspects of multiple projects.
  • Experience of designing AC and DC systems to a variety of compliance standards.
  • Proficient with use and maintenance of design tools such as Altium, KiCAD
  • Experienced in schematic capture and multilayer PCB design and layout.
  • Designed diverse electronics hardware, both analog and digital, such as line drivers, DC-DC converters, motor controllers, and data acquisition components.
  • Ability to analyse hardware / firmware interaction faults
  • Comfortable working with electronic test equipment
  • Able validate design through testing & simulation
  • Ability to write good technical documentation

Desired Skills and Experiences:

  • Experience in the whole product life cycle
  • Exposure to EMC/EMI design and validation
  • Experience simulating circuits in SPICE
  • Experience in C, C++ or Python software or firmware (preferrable STM32)
  • Experience with design and implementation of the electronics health check systems
  • Experience with battery management systems design and implementation
  • Experience with low bandwidth communications protocols and suitable hardware
  • Experience with M2M radio communication systems design and implementation
  • Experience with robotics or unmanned aerial systems UAV / UAS / Drones (preferred)
  • Experience with electric drivetrains
