My client, a prominent player in the injection moulding industry, is looking for an experienced Extrusion Setter to join their team. In this key role, you will be responsible for setting and operating extrusion machines to ensure products are manufactured to the correct specifications, quality standards, and in the right quantity.
As an Extrusion Setter, you'll ensure the smooth operation of the production line, conduct regular maintenance on machinery, and lead troubleshooting efforts to minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities – Extrusion Setter
- Set up and operate extrusion machines to meet product specifications and quality standards.
- Ensure the machinery is in good working order, and correct settings are configured for each product.
- Strip, clean, and rebuild machinery as part of the start-up process.
- Monitor the extrusion line and troubleshoot or solve any operational issues to minimize downtime.
- In cases of more complex problems, escalate to site management and collaborate to find solutions, including engaging external resources if necessary.
- Oversee the monitoring and loading of new materials, ensuring the correct mix is used for each product.
- Continuously monitor product quality, adjusting processes or material mix to maintain quality thresholds.
- Provide support and guidance to Operators, assisting with troubleshooting and offering instructions where needed.
- Work within operational guidelines to maintain a safe and tidy working environment.
- Offer support to the wider team as required, and cover for colleagues in their absence.
Qualifications & Requirements – Extrusion Setter
- Proven ability to set and run a production line, including day-to-day maintenance of extrusion machinery.
- Strong technical skills in line setting for LLDPE, coilers, Zumbach setting, PB rewind setting, and printing setup.
- Ability to learn new procedures, such as BPEX line setting, BPB coiler setup, printing cartridge changes, and ink nozzle alignment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and fix issues, including more complex technical problems.
- Numeracy and literacy skills sufficient to ensure smooth operation, including accurate material measurement and quality checks.
- Detailed understanding of production quality requirements to ensure product consistency and compliance with standards.
- Strong verbal communication skills to discuss technical issues with management and external suppliers.
- Ability to explain complex technical matters to colleagues, assisting in their development.
- Responsible for overseeing the entire production line from start to finish, ensuring processes run smoothly and effectively.
