Head of Finance - Permanent - Hybrid - Maidenhead - £55,000 - £60,000

FryerMiles are delighted to be partnering with an exciting client in the not-for-profit industry to assist with their recruitment of a head of finance on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be working closely with the Finance Director to optimise financial performance, ensuring financial stability for the business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure reliable and timely budgets are developed with appropriate assumptions and they are regularly reviewed with any forecast amendments
  • Supporting the annual budget
  • Provide management information, analysis and insights
  • Manage budgets to help ensure financial sustainability for the future
  • Take responsibility for the delivery and audit of year end accounts and ensure the Finance team and Company Secretary meet statutory and accounting regulations
  • Ensure robust financial systems and processes are in place to safeguard its assets and ensure accuracy of reporting
  • You will review internal controls to ensure they meet ongoing operational requirements
  • You are likely to be leading the implementation of a new financial accounting system within the next two years
  • You'll oversee the gift aid processes, VAT returns and other statutory reporting processes, providing assurance that they are completed accurately and implement any changes to processes as required by changes in legislation
  • You will ensure completion and submission of monthly, quarterly, annual returns as required to Charity Commission, Office of National Statistics
  • You'll liaise with external service providers including auditors, insurers, bank, investment managers
  • You'll ensure the day to day income processing, bank account management, purchase and sales ledger processing, reconciliations and cash flow forecasts are completed in an accurate and timely way
  • You'll carry out project work as directed by the Finance Director

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience in a smilar role within a not-for-profit/charity environment
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • Experience of implementing new financial systems and processes
  • Able to lead team members effetively, prioritising workload and meeting deadlines
