The Malloy Aeronautics Team:

Malloy Aeronautics Limited specializes in the development of heavy lift unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) for both civilian and military uses. Located in Berkshire, our operations are notable for their focus on in-house design and manufacturing. This vertical integration means we control the production of most aircraft components on-site, enhancing our ability to innovate and maintain high standards across all stages of development.

About The Role:

As a Production Engineering Team Lead at Malloy, you will lead a cross-functional engineering team to manage the engineering aspects of our production line. You will be the single point of contact for the production organisation to engage with the engineering organisation and will manage the engineering change request process. You will be responsible for tasking of electrical, mechanical and software engineers to help optimise our assembly line processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality. You will analyse current assembly procedures, identify areas for improvement, and implement innovative solutions to streamline our production operations.

Ability to hold Security Clearance - 5 years residence in the UK

What you’ll being doing:

  • Lead and manage a cross-functional team of engineers.
  • Manage the engineering change request process to ensure timely and effective implementation.
  • Optimise assembly line processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
  • Analyse current assembly procedures to identify areas for improvement and implement innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful execution of production goals.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the production and engineering organisations

Essential Skills and Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Good communication skills across all levels of an organisation.
  • Proven track record in team leadership and cross-functional task management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, analyse, and interpret data to drive decision-making.
  • Experience and interest in process improvement and optimisation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Pro-active mindset and ability to deliver on required company objectives without regular tasking

Desired Skills and Experiences:

  • Previous experience transitioning electromechanical products through a steep growth cycle, i.e. from low to medium volume manufacture.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Proficiency in relevant software: CAD software (SolidWorks), PCB software (KiCAD), software (Git).
  • Experience of ERP / BOM management software and its implementation
  • Experience within the Defence sector
  • Professional Registration - Chartered professional with relevant professional body.
  • Experience with unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and drone technology is highly desirable
