My client, a leading business services group, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Business Intelligence Consultant with deep expertise in creating financial reports using Power BI, leveraging data sourced from D365 Finance. This role involves identifying relevant D365 data sources through various discovery techniques, developing Power BI data models and reports to fulfill user requirements, and collaborating with the data engineering team to build the data warehouse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Sourcing - Utilize both the front-end and back-end of D365 to locate the necessary data tables and views for reporting needs. The candidate should be comfortable with exploring and analyzing D365 data objects such as tables, views, stored procedures, and SQL scripts via SSMS.
- Power BI Development - Design and develop Power BI data models and reports tailored to user needs, including customizations in Power Query, DAX measures, and security configurations.
- Power BI Administration - Assist in managing the Power BI service, including workspaces, apps, and security settings.
- Data Warehouse Development - Collaborate with the data engineering team to support the construction of a Snowflake data warehouse by identifying the required D365 data tables and specifying the necessary transformations and logic to align with Power BI data model requirements.
- Testing & Deployment - Conduct functional testing, coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), and support deployment activities.
Necessary Experience:
- Extensive experience with Power BI, including data modelling, reporting, app development, and administration.
- Strong background in data discovery, mining, and analytics using SQL, with the ability to independently locate data within SQL databases without relying on formal documentation.
- Proven experience in developing Power BI reports for finance teams.
- Hands-on experience sourcing data from D365 Finance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and familiarity with Azure DevOps.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with end-users and address their issues or requests.
- Ability to interpret and understand business requirement documents.
- Self-motivated with the capability to work independently and deliver tasks efficiently.
