Our client is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide high-quality legal advice within the pharmaceutical sector. You will be part of the legal team, handling a diverse range of complex cases and legal projects.

Description

  • Identifies routine to complex legal issues related to strategic matters; solutions focused and effective risk management capability.
  • Negotiates and provides strategic legal support on significant matters and areas of importance directly to management and lead stakeholders across the divisions
  • Resolves moderately complex to complex legal matters day to day in practice area and elevates appropriately to senior legal leadership and other members of the legal team where support is needed
  • Keeps abreast of changes in laws that affect client areas; communicates these to business; represents the business to customers, suppliers, competitors or government agencies
  • Resolves legal issues using negotiation skills and legal expertise; coaches and directs assigned support staff in their responsibilities
  • Manages external counsel in a cost-effective manner to minimise risk to the business
  • Advises EMEA and divisional counsels or other legal department managers of critical project developments / matters in a timely manner.
  • Helps select and/or directs the work of outside counsel, defines project objectives and manages project.

Profile

A successful Senior Legal Counsel should have:

  • Qualified solicitors with a minimum for 4 years PQE, holding the necessary practice certificate as applicable.
  • Extensive post-qualification experience
  • In-house legal experience required, preferably with some experience in the healthcare sector or other highly regulated industry
  • Exceptional understanding of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents and government regulations.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to apply legal principles.
  • Experience in litigation management.
