This Technical Manager role will be a key member of the senior leadership team, overseeing the entire Quality, Hygiene, and Technical division for the site. The individual in this position will collaborate closely with the broader Operations and Continuous Improvement teams to drive the implementation of a Continuous Improvement culture, with a strong focus on Food Safety.

As a BRC AA audited site, they are committed to excellence in both their people and products. The Technical Manager plays a crucial role in leading by example and driving this commitment forward.

Description

  • Ensure the company's operational processes are effectively controlled, meeting food safety and quality objectives.

  • Oversee and manage all factory quality and food safety systems and programs.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, providing technical expertise and guidance on NPD, customer quality compliance, and related matters.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Technical, Quality, and Hygiene teams, conducting skill-gap analysis and fostering professional growth.

  • Ensure compliance with all audit requirements, including customer, BRC, HACCP, and legal standards, on a regular basis.

  • Review and enhance the internal audit process, ensuring alignment with internal procedures.

  • Collaborate closely with suppliers, employees, customers, and regulatory bodies.

  • Ensure all products meet current and future regulatory requirements through thorough vetting.

  • Continuously assess and improve the allergen program, organic certification, recall protocols, and related initiatives.

  • Stay current with and implement all relevant legislation and regulatory updates.

  • Monitor KPIs across all departments, proactively identifying and recommending areas for improvement.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives alongside the Engineering and Operations teams, ensuring a strong focus on food safety.

Profile

  • 5-7 years of experience as a Quality Manager or Technical Manager within a food manufacturing environment

  • Hands-on experience with Retail, Wholesale, and QSR customer audits

  • Demonstrated success in mentoring, coaching, and developing high-performing teams

  • Proven ability to lead and contribute to cross-functional Continuous Improvement initiatives

  • Experience managing and supporting hygiene teams and standards

  • Skilled in leading BRC audits and customer audits with a track record of successful outcomes

  • In-depth knowledge of HACCP principles and broader food safety regulations

  • Must have full right to work in the UK and be within commuting distance of Maidenhead

  • Strong decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and executing CAPAs

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and gain buy-in across all levels of the business
