Teaching Assistant for Autism Support - Maidenhead - ASAP Start

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Autism?

We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a resource base team at a lovely school in Maidenhead. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children, including those who are non-verbal, in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant (Autism Support):

Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with Autism, both verbal and non-verbal, in a resource base setting.
Assist with classroom activities, ensuring students engage in a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Use personalized strategies to support communication, behaviour, and emotional regulation for children with Autism.
Collaborate with the class teacher, special educational needs (SEN) team, and external professionals to deliver tailored support plans.
Promote the development of social skills, self-esteem, and independence for students.

Essential Criteria for a Teaching Assistant (Autism Support):

Experience working with children with Autism in a school or professional setting.
Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and effective support strategies.
Patience, empathy, and a calm, adaptable approach to challenging situations.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to use alternative communication methods (PECS, Makaton, etc.) being a bonus.
A team player, ready to collaborate and learn.

Desirable Criteria for a Teaching Assistant (Autism Support):

Experience in supporting non-verbal children with Autism.
A relevant qualification in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or equivalent experience.
Training in Autism-specific interventions or behavioural approaches (e.g., ABA, TEACCH).
