A welcoming Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Maidenhead is seeking a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team, supporting students with a range of additional needs. The school caters to children with diverse challenges, including Autism, ADHD, speech and communication difficulties, sensory impairments, and physical disabilities. This role is ideal for a graduate who is patient, compassionate, and adaptable.
About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work with small groups of students, providing both academic and emotional support to help them reach their goals. You'll implement individualized learning strategies and collaborate with class teachers to create a positive, inclusive environment. You may also assist with personal care needs, such as toileting and feeding, as part of the support process.
This position provides a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience with neurodivergent students, while also learning from on-site therapists and psychologists. It's an excellent stepping stone for anyone looking to advance in educational psychology, mental health, or therapy.
Ideal Candidate
- A degree in Psychology, Criminology, or a related field is preferred, along with a minimum of a C grade in GCSE Maths and English.
- Prior experience with SEN is advantageous but not essential. Enthusiasm, empathy, and a strong willingness to learn are the most important qualities.
