As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will work in a dynamic school environment, supporting children with Autism and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). As an LSA, you will provide one-to-one and small group support to students, helping them to engage in their learning and personal development in a nurturing and structured environment.
Sociology Graduate Maidenhead – Autism – Special Needs Teaching Assistant in Reading
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with Autism, learning difficulties and other SEND.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
- Promote students’ emotional, social, and academic progress through engaging activities and positive reinforcement.
- Collaborate with teachers and professionals to deliver inclusive teaching methods.
- Support students with personal care needs (training provided as necessary).
- Observe and monitor student progress, maintaining detailed records and reporting to teachers and parents.
- Contribute to a positive and respectful classroom environment that promotes inclusion.
Sociology Graduate Maidenhead - Autism Requirements:
- A degree in Psychology (or a related field) is highly advantageous but not essential.
- Experience working with children or young people with Autism or SEND is desirable but not required.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional learning needs.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A current enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Able to get drive or travel by public transport to our specialist schools and roles in Reading
