Our client a growing independent firm of Charterd Accountants are seeking an accounts and audit Semi-Senior to assist with a mixed portfolo of cliuents. You will have at least two years experience dealing with audit and or accounts preparation for a firm of accountants. A good knowledge of IT is essential and hands on experience of Word, Excel, XERO or Sage is an advantage. The firm also offer study support for ACA or ACCA.

We use CCH for accounts and Xero predominantly.

There is no specialism, it’s a variety of industries in and around Kent.

They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounts and Audit Semi Senior to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, overseeing the preparation of accounts, and providing high-quality advice and support to clients. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of exceptional service and maintaining client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies in compliance with FRS 102/105
  • Ensure all accounts and supporting documentation are prepared to a high standard and on time.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and completion of audit assignments for a diverse portfolio of clients across various industries.
  • Identify and assess risks during audits and design procedures to address these risks effectively.
  • Prepare working papers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with auditing standards and internal methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory regulations and deadlines.
  • Mentor junior team members.
  • Assist in the training and development of less experienced staff.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver a seamless service across all departments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • AAT qualified, ACA/ACCA part-qualified, or qualified by experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice.
  • Proven experience managing client portfolios and preparing statutory accounts.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax legislation.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, CCH) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
