This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is ready to make a significant impact on our client's financial operations for a year's maternity cover.

Assistant Accountant Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Accounts Payable: Process invoices, track expenses, and manage weekly supplier payment runs.
  • Reconciliations: Regularly prepare statement reconciliations of supplier accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Audit Assistance: Assist in external audit requests and ensure all records are organised and readily available.
  • Data Entry: Ensure accurate and efficient input of financial data into the company’s accounting software.
  • Communication Management: Manage the shared accounts email box, responding promptly to inquiries from suppliers and customers.
  • Supplier Reconciliations: Conduct reconciliations for regulated searches to the production system.
  • Financial Processing: Handle daily Credit Collection Files and Cheque processes. 
  • Month-End Support: Assist with the Month End process including credit cards journals, balance sheet reconciliation, and month-end payment run.
  • Budget Preparation: Prepare detailed marketing budgets.
  • Ad Hoc Tasks: Perform other finance-related tasks as required by the Head of Finance or management.
Assistant Accountant Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software (e.g. SAP).
  • Excellent organising abilities, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen.
  • The ideal candidate will need to show experience obtained from a similar role, be in commutable distance to our client in Maidstone, be required to work full-time in our office, and be available to start work immediately.
