A leading regional insurance brokerage is seeking an experienced Broking Team Leader to head up a high-performing Commercial team. In this hands-on role, you'll play a key part in shaping how the team operates - bringing structure, clarity, and consistency through regular 1:1s, tailored development plans, open conversations, and meaningful follow-up. It's about helping people do their best work - and feel good while doing it. About the RoleAs Broking Team Leader, you'll take full ownership of the day-to-day leadership and development of the Commercial Account Handling team. Working closely with the Team Director, you'll help shape a culture of excellence - empowering the team to deliver outstanding service and grow in their roles. You'll need to be present, proactive, and willing to roll your sleeves up. Your focus will be on coaching, leading with intent, and creating a structured, positive environment where people feel supported - but also clear on expectations and motivated to deliver. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting the Commercial Account Handling team in their daily responsibilities.
  • Acting as the key liaison between the Account Handlers, Account Executives, and wider business functions.
  • Playing a pivotal role in building a high-performing, engaged team culture.
  • Running effective 121s, managing performance, and ensuring follow-ups are carried through.
  • Identifying training needs and implementing structured development plans.
  • Managing recruitment, on-boarding, and ongoing team resource planning.
  • Conducting appraisals and managing any employee relations matters.
  • Ensuring all work is delivered to the highest standard and in line with company processes.
  • Supporting the Team Director in the continued evolution of the commercial division.

What You'll Need

  • Extensive experience in commercial insurance broking, or a strong background in a related insurance role with sound technical knowledge.
  • A leadership style that combines empathy with structure - you support your team, but also hold them to a high standard.
  • Confidence in managing performance, improving workflows, and leading from the front.
  • Proven experience developing people, with a clear track record of coaching and driving accountability.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
