Our client is a Global Supply Leader of Ingredients for the Food, Beverage and Nutrition industries and is seeking a Formulation Scientist for their location in Kent. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving the development of cutting edge solution for their customers. The position involves leading New Product Development (NPD) Projects, creating innovative premix formulations and providing technical and nutritional expertise to meet evolving market and customer demands. As part of the Innovation team, you will stay at the forefront of market trends, collaborate closely with cross functional teams, and contribute to supplier approvals, internal projects, and system improvements. The main day to day responsibilities:

  • Support the Innovation and Sales team in new and existing projects for Formulation.
  • Lead and drive innovation/NPD Projects assigned, taking accountability for delivery collaboratively with Application project lead.
  • Develop premix formulations for customer requirements in line with customer and business requirements, where required.
  • Build expertise on functional ingredients and nutrients - to be kept up to date on market trends.
  • Provide Formulation and Nutrition support to all sections of the business.
  • Provide technical inputs for supplier raw material approval.
  • New premix recipe development, identifying and delivering innovative solutions to customers.
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding and knowledge of all products sold (premix blends and straight ingredients), to provide input to all requests for technical, nutritional and labelling information.
  • Actively participate and when required lead the delivery of internal projects.
  • Support, where necessary, completion of questionnaires and portals for Pre-Mix.
  • Send approved formulations to ERP and set-up BOMs and second check BOMs setup by other R&D members.
  • Assist in the rationalisation of packaging options provided.
  • Maintain a good knowledge of internal formulation software, providing inputs for improvements.
  • Preparation of SDS of approved formulations as well as UFI codes where necessary.
  • Support other departments during audits, ISO, FSSC, Kosher, Halal and RSPO.

You will have outstanding communication skills and a Science background and preferably Degree educated. An understanding of ingredients. Will also have the ability to plan and manage own workload.
