About the Role

We are a recruitment agency seeking an experienced Responsible Individual/Operations Manager on behalf of a residential care provider specialising in supporting children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

This is a key leadership role where you will oversee residential services, ensuring compliance with Ofsted and other regulatory bodies. You will provide operational management, lead Registered Managers and staff teams, and drive improvements in quality, performance, and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Management:

  • Provide strong leadership, guidance, and support to Registered Managers and senior staff, ensuring effective and compliant operations across all residential homes.
  • Act as the interim manager in the absence of a Registered Manager to ensure stability and continuity of care.
  • Conduct regular supervisions, performance reviews, and professional development plans for managers and senior staff.
  • Address underperformance through performance management plans and take disciplinary action where required.
  • Oversee central functions, including HR, maintenance, and referrals.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Act as the Ofsted-registered Responsible Individual for designated services, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Lead quality assurance inspections and visits from Ofsted or local authorities, ensuring any actions or recommendations are addressed promptly.
  • Implement and monitor robust quality assurance processes to evaluate performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Handle complaints, queries, and investigations effectively, ensuring safeguarding and compliance procedures are followed.

Safeguarding and Standards:

  • Champion safeguarding and the welfare of children, young people, and staff across all services.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and safeguarding practices.
  • Prepare detailed and high-quality reports for statutory reviews, case meetings, and internal purposes.

Business Development:

  • Promote services to local authorities to maximise occupancy and demand.
  • Identify opportunities for growth within the health and social care sector and present viable proposals to Directors.
  • Develop and implement operational and commercial solutions to support sustainable business growth.

Training and Development:

  • Identify and address the training and continuing professional development (CPD) needs of Registered Managers, Deputy Managers, and staff teams.
  • Facilitate regular supervision, team meetings, and staff development initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative, professional, and supportive working environment across all homes.

Requirements:
  • Significant experience in a senior leadership or management role within childrens residential care.
  • A strong understanding of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding procedures, and legislation relevant to childrens residential homes.
  • Proven experience in improving service quality, ensuring compliance, and driving operational success.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
