Carbon60 are currently looking for a Lead Site Technician to join a client of ours based in Maidstone. As this is a field based position you will be covering the Kent area. This is also a Permanent position.


You will have the responsibility of a 'working supervisor' carrying out on-site installation, service and refurbishment of all mechanical equipment associated with our core business of penstocks, valves, and actuators, as well as other products and services as required by the company. In this role you will instruct the Site Technicians on tasks, and enforce safe practices on the site, whilst liaising/communicating with the Project Engineers/Operations team, and customer.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor, encourage and enforce safe practices within the team and ensure works are delivered safely.
  • Install, service, repair and commission flow control and associated equipment.
  • Carry out minor civils works associated with flow control equipment.
  • Fault finding and diagnosis.
  • Following engineering drawings.
  • Gathering details, measurements, and full descriptions of any components that require replacement.
  • Working in an outdoor environment in different weather conditions.
  • Handing customers in a professional manner.
  • Helping ensure projects are on schedule through monitoring operations/communicating on progress to Project Engineers and Site Service Managers.
  • Conduct inspections on partially completed and finished works, to ensure quality standards are upheld and visible to the customer.
  • Provide daily reports to coworkers and updates to the business on the project progress.
  • Lead in day-to-day communications with the customer on site.
  • Responsible for the completion of site documentation and reporting of progress.
  • Provide direction and supervision to Site Technicians.
  • Contribute to production of RAMS and other H&S documentation as the company and its clients require, utilising the experience of engineering and H&S staff across the company.
  • Hold team meetings to allow for effective communication within the team.
  • Maintain accurate records of all activities and works.


ABOUT YOU:

  • Previous experience in an equivalent role in mechanical engineering, preferably in the water/wastewater industry.
  • Preferably SSSTS qualified.
  • A solid technical background, ideally with penstocks, valves, actuators and associated equipment.
  • Ability to understand and work to engineering drawings.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Kent region on a daily basis.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel across the UK and have overnights stays, in line with the needs of the company, its workload and customers.
  • Enthusiastic approach with a keen eye on continuous improvement to maintain demanding schedules and adhering to our strict safe working practices.
  • Physically fit.
  • Experienced in confined space working.
  • Proven experience of dealing with key customers in a professional manner.
  • Excellent communication and solution orientated problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and observation.
  • Flexibility to adjust workload priorities to take account of new deadlines.
  • IT fluency.
  • Full driving licence.


WORKING HOURS:

  • 39 hours per week Monday - Thursday 8 hours per day
  • Friday 7 hours per day
  • Working within the working window between the hours of 07:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday, flexible by agreement.

This position pays up to £48,000 per annum depending on experience.
