An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Chemist based in the Kent area.

The Role

To assist Production in the manufacture of some process intermediates and identify continuous improvement initiatives. Conduct laboratory research for the development of effective methods to transfer processes from R&D to Production, whilst ensuring product safety and quality. Conduct laboratory research for the development of improved production methods. Assist in the development of new products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage technology transfer activities to ensure the smooth transitioning of processes from R&D to Production.
  • Establish the most cost-effective methods for technology transfer.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of scaling up processes developed in R&D, identify and source equipment to be used at a larger scale. Commercial feasibility to be also assessed.
  • Closely work with Production for conducting trial batches
  • Closely collaborate with Production to implement and scale-up new manufacturing processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to facilitate existing manufacturing processes
  • Assist Production in running production processes (e.g., organic synthesis and reactions) for the manufacture of process intermediates and ensure compliance with current procedures
  • Optimisation of production processes
  • Provide technical support to Production, Sales, QC & QA
  • Run innovative and dynamic research projects for the development and formulation of new products.
  • Handle laboratory equipment and chemicals safely and effectively
  • Prioritise and plan laboratory activities and document for reference
  • Maintain technical data for all development projects worked on
  • Contact suppliers to procure (high specification) raw materials, when required
  • Raise all cGMP documentation following the development/reformulation of products in R&D, including validation records and technical reports
  • Encourage and foster effective communication with all departments for the development of new and improved products

Qualification & Experience

  • BSc in Chemistry / relevant scientific subject or comparable professional experience
  • Experience in manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of cGMP standards.
  • Experience in technology transfer (desirable)
  • Proficient user of all Microsoft Office applications
