Overview: Exciting new opportunity to join an incredible, new Children’s Residential Care Home, under the guidance of an award-winning Director. These homes are built on a foundation of excellence, aiming to raise the standard of care.This is a unique opportunity to support the setup and ongoing management of a new Children’s Residential Care Home in Sellindge, Ashford, Kent. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Responsible Individual to oversee the care home's operations, ensuring compliance with Ofsted and other regulatory requirements, while promoting a culture of excellence. The successful candidate will provide leadership, manage regulatory applications, and support the home’s staff in delivering exceptional care to children and young people.

The Role: As the Responsible Individual, you will be accountable for the overall performance and regulatory compliance of the children’s home. You will act as the main liaison between the home and Ofsted, ensuring the service provided meets the highest standards of care. This role requires a proactive leader who can ensure that all aspects of the home operate in line with regulations  and relevant statutory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Compliance:
    • Oversee the care home’s management to ensure it meets regulatory standards.
    • Lead on the Ofsted registration process and ensure that the home achieves and maintains ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ ratings.
    • Ensure all policies, procedures, and practices are compliant with legal requirements, including safeguarding, health and safety, and equality regulations.
  • Governance and Oversight:
    • Monitor and evaluate the quality of care and compliance with regulatory standards through audits and inspections.
    • Act as the main point of contact for regulatory bodies such as Ofsted, addressing any concerns promptly.
    • Provide strategic guidance to management teams to foster continuous improvement in care delivery.
  • Staff Management:
    • Ensure that all staff are fully trained, supported, and able to meet their roles effectively.
    • Oversee recruitment, development, and performance management of the home’s staff to ensure a high standard of care is maintained.
    • Foster a positive culture within the home, ensuring staff and managers are motivated and focused on delivering quality care.
  • Support in Home Setup:
    • Assist in the establishment of the home, ensuring all systems, processes, and operational frameworks are in place before opening.
    • Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of the home’s strategic vision.
    • Manage all application processes for setting up the care home, including registration with relevant authorities.

Job Type: Indefinite contract; 2 - days a week;  £400 - £500 per day.

Location: Sellindge Ashford, Kent – Must be able to reliably commute or be prepared to relocate.

Work Schedule: This role may require flexible working hours.

Requirements:
  • Extensive experience working in a leadership role within children’s residential care settings.
  • Proven track record of managing regulatory compliance, particularly with Ofsted and the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with regulatory bodies, staff, and stakeholders.
  • A valid driving licence is preferred.
  • Must pass an enhanced DBS check.
