An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Planning Engineer to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering complex infrastructure projects across the UK. The Principal Planning Engineer will lead the planning and coordination of a major new infrastructure project in Kent.

As the Principal Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and managing the project programme, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with contractual obligations. You will work closely with project teams, stakeholders, and subcontractors to optimize project efficiency and mitigate risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and maintain the project schedule using Primavera P6.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC contract requirements, tracking key milestones and deliverables.
  • Coordinate planning activities across earthworks, road construction, RC structures, and steel superstructures.
  • Conduct site visits to assess progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to drive project success.
  • Provide detailed progress reports, critical path analysis, and schedule forecasts.
  • Support commercial and operational teams in project planning and claims management.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience as a Planning Engineer within the civil engineering sector.
  • Strong expertise in Primavera P6 and NEC contract planning.
  • Major infrastructure project experience is essential.
  • Proven track record of managing complex programmes, including earthworks and reinforced concrete structures.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to identify risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
