Job Role: Estimator – Civils        

Area: Maidstone

Salary: £65k - £70k

My client is looking for an experience Civils Estimator to join the pre-construction team based in Maidstone and be responsible for preparing budgets, estimates and cashflows from to initial cost plan to final budget estimate, prior to the handover to the Quantity Surveying and Buying teams.

Responsibility

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil engineering projects, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Analysis project specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to gather essential data for accurate estimation.
  • Develop and maintain a database of costs and pricing for labour, materials, and equipment.
  • Monitor project costs and provide updates on budgetary status.
  • Review and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents and proposals.
  • Identify potential risks and develop strategies for cost mitigation.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, advancements, and best practices in cost estimation and construction.
  • Evaluate risks and cost of construction abnormal in formulating the budget, discussing and reviewing specifications in association with the relevant departments.
  • Prepare cash flows for management accounts and forecasting purposes, providing a cost advisory and investigation service to senior management.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • You will have a thorough understanding of Estimating and Surveying, with a specific and in-depth knowledge of preparing realistic budgets.
  • A good understanding of strategic objectives and targeting financial return, with the ability to understand and manipulate complex financial models.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role elsewhere and be knowledgeable in all areas of construction techniques and mixed-tenure schemes.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
