Representing a distinguished client in the fresh produce industry, Reed FMCG is seeking a Junior Commercial Manager. With over 40 years of excellence, our client has established itself as a market leader in sourcing, production, and distribution, primarily serving the UK’s top retailers. They attribute their success to their dedicated team and are now looking to expand this team by adding a proactive and talented individual to their offices in Wimbledon or Bearsted.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assist in managing and developing key customer relationships to support sales and share growth.
  • Provide category management that aligns with customer goals, ensuring service expectations are clearly understood and met.
  • Collaborate within the team to develop and communicate a joint category plan covering all necessary areas.
  • Meet all sales, volume, and margin targets for the account.
  • Deliver weekly sales forecasts on time, providing the business with accurate account information for long-term forecasting and planning.
  • Work towards consistently outperforming retail and supply competition.
  • Contribute to the promotion and development of the product range both creatively and technically.
  • Continuously assess the supply chain to identify cost-saving opportunities and enhance product quality and freshness.
  • Coordinate with internal departments such as supply chain, procurement, technical, and operations to ensure quality and timely product delivery.
  • Address sourcing and availability issues in collaboration with procurement and supply chain teams.
  • Ensure clear communication and delivery coordination with ISS and relevant third-party packing sites.
  • Handle technical issues with the customer commercial team and liaise internally with technical and quality teams for resolutions.
  • Maintain and develop an understanding of the market sector, including consumer trends, competitor activity, and product lines.
  • Support the delivery of profitable business growth and ensure adherence to administrative and financial systems and controls.
  • Provide summary information on sales, volumes, margins, and prices as required and keep internal and external stakeholders updated with relevant market data.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in commercial/sales roles, account management etc, preferably within the fresh produce or FMCG sector.
  • Strong understanding of category management and customer relationship development.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to provide solutions to enhance business operations.
  • Proficient in data analysis and forecasting, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Creative thinking and technical skills to contribute to product development and marketing strategies.
