We are pleased to be working with Kent Fire & Rescue Service on the position of a Data and Intelligence Analyst specialising in Power BI. The successful candidate will provide analytical capability, primarily focussed on the introduction of Power BI as a new visualisation tool for the organisation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a suite of reports, including Power BI dashboards, which align to the recently redefined performance reporting framework.
  • Assist the organisation to implement Power BI, providing insight and guidance on infrastructure requirements to embed the product within existing systems
  • Provide training and guidance to the wider Data & Intelligence Team on Power BI.
  • Analyse and prepare statistical information from a variety of sources to assist in the production of the Service’s performance information including the use of GIS systems to analyse and display the results where appropriate.
  • Develop and improve the facilities for local managers to access relevant and timely information through Intranet reports.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE:

  • Theoretical and applied knowledge of a range of mathematical and statistical concepts and operations.
  • A good understanding of relational databases and knowledge of how to manipulate data in spreadsheets.
  • Awareness of the issues of data protection, confidentialityandintegrity.
  • Ability to apply mathematical and statistical concepts and techniques to a range of analytical activities which analyse and evaluate variability, model and undertake predictive analysis.
  • Ability to extract, manipulate and evaluate data from a range of databases using Microsoft SQL programming language.
  • Proven experience of creating reports and dashboards in both SQL Server Reporting Services and Power BI.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a range of audiences.
  • Ability to work within a team by contributing to team activities in a positive and effective manner and building positive relationships.
  • Proven experience in the design and preparation of statistical and analytical reports.
  • Proven extensive experience of using Power BI including introduction of the product to an organisation.
  • Experience of addressing data silos through technical solutions

QUALIFICATIONS:

Educated to A level standard or equivalent with a pass in Mathematics or Statistics.
