Pearson Whiffin Education is seeking a passionate individual for a SEMH Teaching Assistant role in a SEMH School based in Maidstone.

This SEMH school provides a professional environment for 14-19-year-olds, focusing on personal, social, academic, and wellbeing development. The curriculum is regularly evaluated to ensure it meets students' needs.

The school prepares students for work or further education, fostering independence and personal growth. Many students are in care or assisted living, and the school’s aim is to equip them for a successful transition into adulthood. Ideally the candidate will have previous experience teaching in an SEN school or experience working with pupils with complex additional needs.

Your responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant will include:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a secondary age student both in and out of class
  • Supporting the student in their learning in a way that suits their needs
  • Managing their behaviour to ensure the best possible learning outcomes 
  • Being alert to, and responding to any safeguarding or pastoral concerns
  • Supporting students with their personal, social, and academic development.
