SEN Teaching Assistant - SEMH - Thanet

Full-time, immediate start - Monday to Friday, 8.15am to 3.30pm - £83.33 per day

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of secondary-aged students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs)? Do you have experience supporting young people with SEMH, helping them reach their full educational potential? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an SEN Teaching Assistant within the Thanet area to support students with SEMH.

As an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in specialised support units and provide one-to-one assistance to students, guiding and nurturing their academic and emotional development.

Role & Responsibilities - SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Deliver personalised support and guidance to students with diverse educational and emotional needs.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Personalised Education Plans (PEPs).
  • Effectively manage behaviour using a pupil-centric approach in line with the school's behaviour policies and each student's PEP/IEP.
  • Motivate and encourage students, using positive behaviour management techniques to support their progress.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents to foster student development and support growth.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students with SEMH is essential.
  • Own or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS Disclosure for child workforce on the Update Service, along with Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks.
  • A complete CV covering the last 10 years of employment history, where possible.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
  • Driving is beneficial for this role. Public transport users should be able to travel up to one hour each way.
