- Supporting individuals and groups of students, ensuring they stay on task and complete activities assigned by the teacher.
- Addressing behavioral and special needs issues alongside the teacher.
- Delivering interventions for students with special educational needs (SEN).
- Assisting with the implementation of lesson plans, objectives, and content in collaboration with the teacher.
- Providing feedback to students independently of the teacher.
- Leading small groups of students in specific activities.
- Taking responsibility for a whole class in the teacher's absence.
- Supporting challenging students outside the classroom as a respite strategy.
- Supervising students during breaks and lunchtimes.
- Collaborating with the teacher to communicate with parents about student progress.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date learner files and records.
- At least a Level 2 Qualification in English and Maths.
- Knowledge of statutory requirements in health and safety, SEN, and safeguarding children.
- Ability to work independently under teacher guidance, with groups or individual students.
- Experience working with challenging students, understanding their needs, and employing effective behavior management strategies when necessary.
- Experience assisting teachers in planning and delivering teaching activities, including those outlined in Individual Education Plans.
- Experience teaching children with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), Special Education Needs (SEN), language difficulties, or other complex needs.
- Determination to improve student achievement levels.
- Ability to handle emotionally demanding situations.
- Level 3 Coaching Qualification.
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in an alternative provision environment.
- Understanding of curriculum requirements, particularly in literacy and numeracy.
- Successful experience working with disaffected and emotionally vulnerable students.
- Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only (41 weeks).
- Contract: Permanent.
