Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Location - Maidstone

Salary - *Salary Disclaimer*

Permanent, Full Time

Hours - Monday to Friday

Shift pattern: weekly rotating 3 shift system - 06:00-14:00, 08:00-16:00 and 14:00-22:00 Monday to Friday - 30 minutes for lunch

Saturday/Sunday work may be requested (as required) optional and paid as overtime. 30% Monday to Friday, 50% Saturdays and 100% Sundays and Bank Holidays.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer. You will be pivotal in executing all corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance across our entire process. You will report directly to the Engineering Manager, ensuring our maintenance department provides safe, effective, and efficient support to the Production department.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and develop the site CMMS, working closely with the Engineering Manager and Stores Coordinator.
  • Assist in the strategic development of the business's maintenance philosophy by introducing new techniques and procedures aimed at enhancing overall plant availability within budget constraints.
  • Play a crucial role in planning all scheduled shutdowns, ensuring timelines and maintenance programs are met on time and within budget.
  • Supervise and coordinate with subcontractors for additional maintenance resources or specific maintenance contracts.

Accountabilities

  • Ensure all activities at the site comply with the Safety Policy and Health & Safety statutory requirements.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments to always maintain safe working conditions.
  • Collaborate with the team to continuously improve Health & Safety measures at the manufacturing plant.
  • Consistently conduct and document specific toolbox talks.
  • Serve as the authorised/nominated person for issuing safety permits within your competence limits.
  • Promote best practices and a "right-first-time" philosophy within the maintenance department.
  • Assist in implementing equipment upgrades and replacements according to agreed process priorities.
  • Participate actively in all statutory inspections of the plant and equipment annually.
  • Engage in the day-to-day use, implementation, and development of the company CMMS.
  • Manage and contribute to team efforts, fostering team spirit and supporting colleagues.
  • Develop and participate in the WCM culture by implementing procedures and initiatives (Quick Kaizen, 4D/8D, Root Cause Analysis, FEMECA, and 5S), and take part in all aspects of the PPM (Planned Professional Maintenance) pillar.

Personal Specification

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels.
  • Excellent organisational abilities, with a proactive and flexible approach to tasks, including adaptability to varying working hours when necessary.
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to operate flexibly across a diverse range of work areas.
  • Keen attention to detail, along with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors effectively in a planned shutdown environment.

Qualification Requirements

  • City & Guilds/ONC qualification, ideally in Electrical/Instrumentation & Control.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in the Power, Paper, Cement, or Energy from Waste industries, or an FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) is an advantage.
  • Ideally holds an IOSH safety accreditation.
  • Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance techniques such as thermography, PAT testing, and medium voltage environments.
  • Proficiency with instrumentation and control systems, including Siemens PLCs, DCS, and various level, temperature, pressure, and flow control systems.
