Job Description: M&E Estimator

Location: Maidstone

Salary: 60,000

Job Purpose

We are seeking a skilled M&E Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical and electrical construction projects, with a focus on the mechanical discipline. This role involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop detailed cost estimates.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Reviewing project plans: Analyze drawings, schematics, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate estimates.
  • Cost calculations: Determine the quantity and cost of materials, equipment, and labor required.
  • Bid preparation: Prepare and submit detailed estimates and bids for projects.
  • PQQ and ITT documentation: Ensure accurate preparation and submission of relevant documentation.
  • Coordination: Work with engineers, contractors, manufacturers, and clients to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Risk management: Identify potential financial or operational risks and offer mitigation strategies.
  • Record maintenance: Keep detailed records of all estimation documentation, updating them regularly.
  • Supplier negotiation: Negotiate with suppliers and manufacturers for the best material and equipment prices.
  • Industry updates: Stay informed of the latest techniques, materials, and costs to ensure accuracy.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as an estimator or in a similar role (minimum 2 years).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and engineering principles.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM software.
  • Relevant higher-level qualification or degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience or qualification in the use of CAD.
  • Experience with SimPro software.
