We are pleased to be working with Kent Fire and Rescue Services for two IT Trainer positions on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract, supporting the expansion of the current team. The successful candidates will create and deliver engaging, interactive learning initiatives designed to launch, embed and support Business Applications and other IT related software. To provide short sessions one to one or in small groups on specific elements of a Microsoft package to enhance performance. The purpose is also to help teams think about how they can use packages to deliver better performance for customers.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop engaging eLearning solutions and face to face solutions which are easy to access and focused on what the learner needs
  • Provide user guidance information packages for IT content by liaising with subject matter experts.
  • Create in-house blended learning solutions using different learning methods and media options.
  • Help teams think about how to use Microsoft products to enhance team performance.
  • Ensure colleagues are fully equipped with the necessary IT skills to perform their role to the required standards as set by the organisation.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of all the IT Systems learning resources by keeping own knowledge updated on current learning technologies, eLearning concepts, webinar based learning and virtual classroom concepts.
  • Work with internal technical experts to identify and agree how existing content can be converted into learning for our customers and ensure that all IT training resources are refreshed and updated.
  • Provide training on bespoke software and its associated tools.
  • Produce bite-size training videos.
  • Design and improve online IT training courses and materials.
  • Provide remote and in person teaching and support to customers.
  • Keep up to date on any software updates or product changes.
  • Support ad-hoc requests as required in supporting events, facilitating assessment centres as necessary for the Service.
  • Collaborate with the Content and Digital Team to provide instructional content on IT applications used throughout the Service.
  • Provide specialist product training for all members of staff as required. Document work, take part in user meetings where necessary and assist in presenting issues and solutions both orally and in writing.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of screen capture software for the creation of training content
  • Knowledge on how to produce a high standard of instructionally sound and clear content appropriate to the subject matter and intended learning outcomes
  • Knowledge and understanding of user experience design, including front end user interface and journey design
  • Knowledge of emerging trends and best practice for learning content creation
  • Knowledge of and use of a LMS (Learning Management System) to record and deliver training material
  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently
  • High level of communication skills (verbal and written), ability to build rapport both with IT experts & internal customers
  • Ability to use own initiative, to work under pressure to meet deadlines and to respond positively to change
  • Able to adapt style to the audience and their needs
  • Able to use plain language both verbal and written
  • Able to translate technical jargon into plan speak for end users
  • Skills in using technology to deliver engaging training products
  • Experience in producing online learning content and materials.

Please note, this role will require you to be on site 4 times a week, across Kent Fire and Rescue Service sites.
