Quality Engineer

Based in Kent

Our brand-new client are leading specialists in the Engineering industry and are looking for a Quality Manager to join their company. The role includes full responsibility for managing the quality departmentsā€™ day to day workload, to ensure all business needs are satisfied.

Requirements:

  • Maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) approved to ISO9001 and AS/EN9100. Maintaining and improving the Environmental Management System approved to ISO14001.
  • Lead and manage the process of internal and external audits for AS9001, ISO14001, and AS9100 - ensuring the businessā€™ accreditation is always upheld in all areas.
  • Dealing with all customer and supplier correspondence in relation to any quality issues across the supply chain, both upstream and downstream, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Day to day management of team workload, prioritising accordingly to ensure business needs of all factors (quality / cost / output / safety) are met, prioritising accordingly, with escalation to Head of Operations, where required.
  • Manage the Control of Nonconforming Products identified both internally and externally, in accordance with company procedures, ensuring that effective and timely containment, correction and prevention measures are deployed to address root cause(s) whilst maintaining communication levels internally (8D reports via IIR/EIR process).
  • Overseeing the preparation and completion of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to the AS9102 standard.

Requirements:

  • Strong GD&T and metrology skills.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a quality engineering-based role.
  • A skilled leader with strong self-motivational skills, who is well organized and able to work with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility.
  • Knowledge of machined plastic and metal parts, compression and transfer moulding would be advantageous.
  • A degree in an engineering or management discipline
