Payroll Controller and Accounts Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Controller and Accounts Assistant to manage end-to-end payroll processes and handle accommodation income accounting. This role requires precision and a strong understanding of payroll regulations and accounting principles to ensure all employees are paid correctly and company finances are accurately recorded.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Process the company’s payroll monthly, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in payments.
  • Manage all payroll data inputs including new hires, terminations, and updates to employee records.
  • Calculate and update absence records, including annual and statutory leaves.
  • Ensure compliance with all payroll-related regulations, including tax, social security, and employment laws.
  • Handle annual filings such as P60s and P11Ds and manage pension contributions and deductions.
  • Act as the primary contact for employee payroll inquiries, providing clear and prompt responses.
  • Reconcile accommodation booking payments with bank statements and accurately record them in the accounting system.
  • Ensure all accommodation income is recorded correctly within the accounting period and reconcile occupancy records with financial results.
  • Support the finance team with general accounting duties to ensure smooth financial operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with in-house payroll systems.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Experienced in bank and credit card reconciliations and financial month-end closing activities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet varying workload demands.
