Engineering Team Leader

  • Annual Salary: £52,000 + 10% shift premium

  • Shift: 4 on 4 off

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Team Leader to coordinate the tasks of a manufacturing shift engineering team. This role involves providing clear leadership, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to a world-class standard, and reducing operating plant downtime. The Engineering Team Leader will play a crucial role in managing across departments to ensure the delivery of all maintenance plans and optimising the productivity of the team.







Day-to-day of the Engineering Team Leader role:

  • Spend 80% of the time in the plant working hands-on with the team.
  • Quickly and safely react to plant breakdowns to minimise downtime and maximise output.
  • Apply Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodology following significant downtime events to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Work with other Team Leaders to incorporate learnings from plant engineering issues into the bakery's maintenance system.
  • Ensure the engineering team completes preventative maintenance tasks on time and records them accurately.
  • Develop and update the engineering continuous improvement (CI) and RCA processes.
  • Provide weekly management reports on maintenance activities and progress.






Required Skills & Qualifications of the Engineering Team Leader:

  • Qualified engineer with a strong electrical & PLC bias and good mechanical knowledge (including hydraulics & pneumatics).
  • Proven experience leading a team of shift engineers.
  • A clear understanding of the principles of Continuous Improvement (CI) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA), with a history of successful deployment.
  • Ability to identify effective long-term solutions to plant issues and an excellent troubleshooter.
  • Proven ability to operate and develop maintenance systems, comfortable with analysing and interpreting data.
