We are seeking a dedicated and organised Finance Assistant to join an accounting team. This role involves a variety of tasks including payroll management, handling payments, and some HR-related duties. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage all aspects of monthly company payroll and pension schemes.
  • Handle subcontractor invoices and CIS, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Manage and process all outgoing payments, including ad hoc requests.
  • Conduct regular bank reconciliations and manage payment runs for suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Approve and process subcontractor invoices.
  • Pay all utility bills promptly.
  • Process clocking in data and timesheets, managing the clocking in systems and resolving any issues.
  • Produce sales invoices for clients and monitor accounts receivable.
  • Monitor accounts payable to ensure all supplier accounts are balanced and up to date.
  • Manage the Accounting team’s shared email box and respond to all incoming queries.
  • Record all holiday and absences.
  • Administer all HR-related documents such as employment contracts and offer letters.
  • Liaise with employees to respond to any employment or personal queries.
  • Submit CIS returns and prepare monthly VAT returns.
  • Manage petty cash and use the purchase order system.
  • Collaborate with auditors at company year-end and work closely with the Accounts Administrator to meet all payment deadlines.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience with accounting software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Capable of managing own workload and working effectively within a team.
  • Good interpersonal and telephone communication skills.
Desirable Experience (Training provided if necessary):
  • Experience in the construction/property industry.
  • Knowledge of CIS.
  • Experience with Sage Accounts/Payroll.
