Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Strood

Full-time - £116-£120 per day - ASAP start

Tradewind Recruitment are sourcing for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a full-time role in Strood. This will be for an immediate start and will be on a contract basis but there is the potential for the role to be permanent for the right candidate.

The school is a single-form school in Medway, accessible via public transport and has on site parking. The school is also graded GOOD by Ofsted and highlighted the high expectations leaders have for the children and how this has enabled their Early Years and Key Stage 1 provision to be very strong. It also found that the school is improving relationships with parents to foster strong engagement with the family set up to increase attainment.

The Role

  • Preparing classrooms for lessons, including setting up video presentations and sourcing books and handouts for students
  • Teaching classes unassisted, especially when Teachers are ill or on leave
  • Planning and delivering learning and enrichment activities, either with Teachers or independently
  • Working with small groups of students or individuals needing special attention
  • Developing specialist curricula in areas of interest
  • Assessing students' progress and discussing development with Teachers, parents and Carers
  • Consoling students who are unwell, injured or upset
  • Supervising student groups on excursions and at sporting events

Requirements

  • Experience working as a HLTA would be highly desirable.
  • Holding a L4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification would be highly desirable but not essential.
  • Experience planning and delivering specialist PPA lessons across the primary curriculum.
  • Either have, or be willing to get, an enhanced DBS on the update service.
  • Must have right to work in the UK
