Teaching Assistant - Temp to Perm Role - Full-time

An inclusive and supportive secondary special school is looking for an experienced and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join its team. The school is committed to ensuring that all students receive the necessary support to help shape their futures. If you are passionate about working with young people and helping them succeed, this could be the perfect role for you.

The School:

Complex needs - ASD and Asperger's11 to 19 years old - mixed gender

What We're Looking For
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • Strong communication skills, enabling effective engagement with students, staff, families, and external professionals.
  • Ability to manage workload efficiently and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine commitment to student wellbeing.
  • Awareness of local and national support services available to schools and families.
  • Knowledge of relevant safeguarding, attendance, and data protection legislation.

Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel up to an hour to work.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is advantageous.
  • Ability to provide personal care support, including toileting and feeding, as needed.
  • Strong communication skills, patience, flexibility, and a positive approach.
  • Willingness to undergo necessary background checks and obtain clearances.
  • Hold, or be willing to apply for, an enhanced DBS (child workforce) on the update service.
