Do you have a passion for supporting students with special educational needs in an inclusive and dynamic learning environment?

GSL Education Kent are seeking dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistants to join schools in Maidstone, with positions available immediately.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide crucial support to students facing various challenges, including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) issues, autism spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD, and other SEND requirements. Collaborating closely with teachers and SENCOs, you’ll help foster a positive, inclusive learning environment where students can develop confidence, independence, and academic skills. SEN TA responsibilities include assisting teachers with delivering tailored lessons, supporting both one-on-one and small group activities, and modifying lesson plans as needed to fit each student’s unique needs. You’ll also play an essential role in encouraging students' personal development, managing classroom behaviour, and ensuring a smooth continuation of learning in the teacher's absence.

Qualification & Skills

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (preferred but not mandatory).
  • A degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field is desirable.
  • Experience working with children in an SEN environment or as an SEN Teaching Assistant is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with a caring and patient attitude.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and adapt to the unique needs of students.
