Position: Facilities and Health & Safety Assistant
Location: Head Office - Maldon, Essex
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Working Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm)
Driving Required: Yes
Role Purpose:
As the Facilities and Health & Safety Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our Facilities and Health & Safety Manager. Your focus will be on ensuring that our organisation maintains the highest standards in health and safety while complying with all relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Carry out routine health and safety inspections, documenting findings and coordinating follow-up actions.
- Support investigations of accidents and incidents, maintaining accurate records.
- Keep H&S documentation updated, including risk assessments and compliance records.
- Help develop and deliver health & safety training programmes for all employees.
- Manage emergency arrangements, including fire safety and first aid provisions.
- Ensure compliance and maintenance of PPE and safety equipment.
- Liaise with contractors to ensure adherence to health & safety requirements.
- Contribute to larger facility projects, ensuring safety controls are in place.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging with all levels of staff.
What We're Looking For:
- A basic health & safety qualification (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely) is desirable.
- Experience or interest in health & safety compliance within a workplace setting.
- Strong administrative skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented approach.
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
- A full driving licence is essential.
