Position: Facilities and Health & Safety AssistantLocation: Head Office - Maldon, EssexContract Type: Permanent, Full TimeWorking Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm)Driving Required: Yes

Role Purpose:As the Facilities and Health & Safety Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our Facilities and Health & Safety Manager. Your focus will be on ensuring that our organisation maintains the highest standards in health and safety while complying with all relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Carry out routine health and safety inspections, documenting findings and coordinating follow-up actions.
  • Support investigations of accidents and incidents, maintaining accurate records.
  • Keep H&S documentation updated, including risk assessments and compliance records.
  • Help develop and deliver health & safety training programmes for all employees.
  • Manage emergency arrangements, including fire safety and first aid provisions.
  • Ensure compliance and maintenance of PPE and safety equipment.
  • Liaise with contractors to ensure adherence to health & safety requirements.
  • Contribute to larger facility projects, ensuring safety controls are in place.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging with all levels of staff.

What We're Looking For:

  • A basic health & safety qualification (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely) is desirable.
  • Experience or interest in health & safety compliance within a workplace setting.
  • Strong administrative skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented approach.
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • A full driving licence is essential.
