As a Health & Safety Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the work environment is safe and compliant. My client will value your expertise and enthusiasm and are committed to fostering a supportive and engaging workplace culture.

What You'll Do:

  • Help implement and monitor health and safety policies.
  • Support risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections.
  • Conduct routine health and safety inspections and report findings.
  • Assist in investigating accidents and incidents.
  • Maintain health and safety documentation.
  • Support health and safety training programmes.
  • Assist in managing emergency arrangements.
  • Ensure PPE and safety equipment is maintained.
  • Liaise with contractors to ensure health and safety compliance.
  • Help coordinate property maintenance with a focus on safety.
  • Support larger facility projects with safety measures.
  • Maintain records for inspections and compliance.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture with employees and the H&S Committee.

Role Requirements:To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • A basic health and safety qualification, such as IOSH Managing Safely, is required to ensure foundational knowledge and compliance.
  • Previous experience or a strong interest in health and safety compliance within a workplace setting is highly desirable.
  • A solid understanding of health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments is important.
  • Strong administrative skills are essential, including experience in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Good knowledge of IT systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and web applications, is necessary for efficient task management.
  • Excellent communication skills are required to effectively engage with colleagues at all levels within the organisation.
  • A proactive and team-oriented approach is crucial, along with a keen eye for detail to ensure thoroughness in all tasks.
  • The ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively is essential for success in this role.
