Mobile Plant Fitter

Location: Essex (with travel to Suffolk, Kent, Norfolk, and Cambridgeshire)
Salary: 18 - 22 per hour
Employment Type: Permanent or Self-Employed
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (flexible working available)

Are you an experienced Mobile Plant Fitter looking for your next challenge? Join our Plant & Transport Division, a key part of our long-standing family business that spans construction, civil engineering, groundworks, development, plant hire, and vehicle maintenance.

In this role, you'll play a vital part in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of machinery and vehicles, ensuring our fleet is operational, safe, and ready to support our projects across the region.

What We Offer:

  • Permanent Role: Competitive hourly rate of 18 - 22
  • Self-Employed Option: Limited company arrangements available through Hudson.
  • Benefits: Company van (with fuel card), paid and unpaid break structure, and flexible working hours.
  • Diverse Fleet: Work on small tools, mini excavators, dumpers, rollers, and large-scale earth-moving equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance of plant machinery and equipment.
  • Conduct engineering rebuilds, fabrication, and welding where necessary.
  • Support 80% of maintenance work on-site and 20% within our workshop in Hazeleigh, Essex.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and minimize downtime of equipment.
  • Travel to various sites across Essex, Suffolk, Kent, Norfolk, and Cambridgeshire.

What We're Looking For:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Plant Maintenance (or equivalent such as City & Guilds).
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in plant maintenance and diagnostics.
  • Ability to work independently, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Welding/fabrication skills are desirable.
  • Time-served experience will also be considered.
