The Role

Based in their regional office based in South Cheshire they have an excellent opportunity for a SolidWorks Design Engineer / Technical Coordinator.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • You will form part of the Technical Design Team, as part of a team of SolidWorks engineers supporting all aspects of design process.
  • You will work on a variety of nationwide projects, ranging from £25k up to £5m in value and may have to travel to London on an occasional basis, which might involve overnight stays.
  • The job involves creating visuals and design drawings for tender stage through to fabrication drawings for manufacturing.
  • Following approval of the drawings you be required to order all the relevant components via an automated take-off system and liaise with the purchasing department to ensure a smooth transition of components to site.
  • The individual must also have an awareness of costs and work closely with the commercial department.
  • Other areas of involvement include die design, product design and systems development.

Key skill requirements of the SolidWorks Role

Communications is a key element of the position and this includes speaking directly with a London based design team, fabricators, suppliers through to the on-site fixing teams. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, with a keen interest in design engineering and 3D modelling and with a willingness to develop their skills in the specialist market of office partitioning. A natural tendency to have a high attention to detail and highly organised working process will be required.

  • Expertise with SolidWorks (minimum 2 years experience)
  • Good understanding of 3D Studio Max preferable
  • Experience of Revit would be advantageous
  • Good understanding of Microsoft office
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-managed, motivated and hard working
  • Knowledge of the construction or architectural business preferable
  • R&D experience preferable
