Chief Executive Officer

Location: £80,000 circa

Salary: Malton, North Yorkshire / Hybrid

Are you a dynamic and visionary leader ready to take the helm of a successful association dedicated to independent schools? The company are seeking a passionate and skilled senior professional to guide their organisation into its next phase of growth and achievement.

The company is a membership organisation dedicated to the professional development and networking of individuals working within the independent education sector. Their mission is to support their members in their roles to effectively promote their schools, engage with prospective families, and communicate their school’s unique value proposition.

The Role

As the CEO, you will play a pivotal role in steering the strategic direction, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future, driving key initiatives, and ensuring the Association continues to uphold its core values of integrity, inclusivity, and innovation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the organisation.
  • Develop and implement long-term growth strategies.
  • Oversee operational management and ensure financial sustainability.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Represent AMCIS at national and international forums.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Skills and Qualifications

The CEO will:

  • Possess strong leadership and management abilities
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking skills alongside exceptional planning and organisation skills to deliver the strategic objectives
  • Demonstrate exceptional skills in managing continuity as well as change
  • Deal effectively with demanding situations and design and implement suitable solutions
  • Be a role model for integrity and values
  • Develop individual staff and build a high performing team
  • Know how to influence and enable others, requiring professionalism from the AMCIS team
  • Demonstrate commitment to continued professional growth and development
  • Demonstrate a flexible attitude to meet the demands of both role and the complexities of its relationships

The CEO will also demonstrate membership association and business acumen:

  • Knowledge and experience of leading / working in a membership association is desirable
  • Experience in integrating and coordinating diverse areas of management
  • Knowledge of HR, finance, oral and written communications, planning and evaluation and governance
  • A high level of personal skills in order to make presentations to members and to deal effectively with AMCIS members and those within the independent school sector
