Our client is a leading food manufacturer based in Malton, North Yorkshire. We are recruiting a Site Services Team Leader.

You will be responsible for maximising the operational efficiency of equipment and facilities by introducing innovative systems and procedures that boost the company's competitiveness. Ensuring that the physical environment is optimised for manufacturing high-quality food products while complying with current health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop the building, environment, and plant to ensure a safe working space for staff and visitors, including heating, ventilation, fire protection, pipework, plumbing, alarms, security, gutters, and drains.
  • Oversee daily water treatment and boiler plant operations.
  • Support the engineering team by enhancing skills and promoting flexibility and cross-functional abilities.
  • Develop and manage the asset register and create an effective maintenance plan for all equipment.
  • Manage on-site contractors.
  • Contribute to a preventive maintenance culture using PIRANA (EMS) and ensure all work is recorded.
  • Set KPIs for the team and conduct regular reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory inspections and maintain accurate records.
  • Implement and follow routine maintenance plans.
  • Uphold operating standards in health & safety, housekeeping, and quality, and prepare for audits.
  • Identify and implement energy-saving opportunities across the site.
  • Assist the Site Services Engineering Manager with additional tasks as needed.
  • Ensure all staff adhere to health and safety procedures and support Chargehands in their health and safety duties.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience is beneficial.
  • Electrical qualifications and some mechanical experience are preferred.
  • Refrigeration experience is a plus but not required.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with EMS systems (e.g., Pirana) are needed.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied workload and adapt to changing business needs and unexpected issues.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability in troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
  • Must be enthusiastic, driven, and passionate about engineering maintenance.
  • Professional demeanour with the ability to handle issues independently.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships.
