We are seeking a Procurement Assistant with a proactive attitude and a background in agriculture, feed, or milling, or significant experience in large food manufacturing procurement. This role is ideal for a problem solver who is adept at managing systems, processes, and troubleshooting. The successful candidate will support our newly appointed Head of Procurement and play a crucial role in improving our procurement operations.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Monitor and verify tonnages from suppliers, check prices, and manage purchase order amendments and clean-ups.
  • Address and correct issues related to 'tickets', such as weighbridge errors.
  • Demonstrate strong commercial acumen with a focus on both buying and selling strategies.
  • Work autonomously on various tasks, showing self-motivation and drive.
  • Manage multiple tasks efficiently and adapt to evolving processes within the organisation.
  • Act as a diplomatic communicator, facilitating relationships between new and existing team members.
  • Drive process improvements and contribute to the development of more efficient procurement practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in back-office procurement, ideally within agriculture, feed, milling, or large food manufacturing.
  • Highly proficient in numeracy, with an ability to spot errors and trends.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of buying and selling processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to be sensitive and diplomatic.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and under supervision.
  • Comfortable working in a non-traditional, agricultural environment and eager to contribute to the agricultural economy.
  • A degree in a relevant field is preferred, but not mandatory.
