Purpose of a Foiling Machine Operator:

As a Foil Machine Operator, you will play a key role in the manufacturing process. Ensuring the prepared raw materials are fit for purpose on a job-by-job basis. Setting and running machines to capacity as material allows whilst carrying out spot inspections on all in progress jobs. Contribute to create customer bespoke packaging and stock packaging.

Day to day duties of a Foiling Machine Operator

  • Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure correct machine start-up and operation.
  • To program or set and maintain the Foiling Machines.
  • Ensure the last impression is as good as the first.
  • Have clear communication with line manager to reports any challenges.
  • Work closely with other machine operators to process jobs efficiently.
  • Use job specific artwork and layouts to confirm the correct foil positions.
  • 'Sign off' foil jobs before production run.
  • Review material stock on a weekly basis including foils and blocks for upcoming jobs. Work with Pre-Production team to place material requirements.
  • Take part in the company stock takes as required.
  • Understand and follow a weekly schedule of works.
  • Follow and contribute to the companies Health and Safety Policies.
  • Follow and contribute to the companies BRC and FSC Accreditations.
  • Passing on knowledge and experience to new starters.
  • Complete job docket and time sheet records accurately.
  • Participate in the company training programme as required.
  • All tools must be returned at the end of each day.
  • Ensure wok area is always kept tidy.

Skills Required for a Foiling Machine Operative:

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Great housekeeping.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in packaging manufacturing.
  • Experience working with cut and crease machinery would be an advantage.
  • Time management.
