Business Accountant

Location: Chorlton, Manchester.

Full Time/Part Time: Part Time, 20 Hours per Week (Flexible working but must include Monday and Friday)

Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 Minimum, Dependent on experience and qualifications (Pro Rata)

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in Business accounting.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Xero software.
  • Experience preparing and reconciling Weekly Payroll.
  • A strong understanding of financial controls, management accounts, and VAT compliance.
  • A passion to succeed and a commitment to excellence.

Accountabilities:

  1. Day-to-day Financial Transactions: Responsible for the day-to-day financial transactions including Bank posting, School billing, credit control, purchase ledger posting and any general ledger journals. Ensuring that all transactions are accurate and dealt with in a timely manner.
  2. Reconciliations: Carry out monthly reconciliations to ensure the correct accounting treatments are adhered to for all Balance Sheet Accounts.
  3. Reporting: Perform month-end and year-end closing and prepare monthly management accounts.
  4. Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, including cost-benefit analysis. Administer annual Business and Fleet Insurance with Broker.
  5. Cash Flow: Monitor and manage the cash flow as part of daily work.
  6. Compliance and Audit: Assist with the preparation for the annual Financial Accounts and liaise with external Accountants as required. Ensure the Business complies with relevant financial regulations, and tax regulations.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in accounts preparation including chart of accounts, nominal codes.
  • Good financial analysis skills.
  • Competent in the use of word, excel spreadsheets and power-point presentations and reports.
  • Good knowledge of financial systems and software.
  • Pension knowledge to use NEST website.
  • Good understanding of financial procedures for sales, purchase and general ledger journals.
  • Collaborative team player, willing to support others and share knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Resilient and adaptable to change.
